Heart disease symptoms

There are many types of heart diseases, including congenital heart disease or diseases that result from a problem in the arteries supplying the heart, such as a heart attack or those caused by a disturbance in the heart rhythm or defects in the heart valves.

Heart disease can also be caused by a defect in the heart muscle itself, such as heart failure, an enlarged heart, or cardiomyopathy.

Each type of heart disease has its symptoms. Still, it is possible to share several symptoms that are always inferred that there is a problem in the heart of the individual.

The following are  the common symptoms of heart disease,  and we will mention some of the unusual symptoms of each disease :

Common heart disease symptoms

Common heart disease symptoms include :

Chest pain

Chest pain is a common early symptom of heart disease, which the patient may describe as soreness, pressure, or general discomfort in the chest area.

Chest pain associated with heart disease can also travel to other nearby organs, such as the shoulder, neck, back, arm, jaw, and upper abdomen.

Heart disease pain lasts from a second to several weeks, frequently occurring from time to time, either randomly or as a result of an activity that stimulates it.

However, it should be noted that many diseases and health problems can cause chest pain, not only heart diseases.

Shortness of breath and cough

One of the common symptoms of heart disease is shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, and this occurs as a result of the heart’s inability to pump blood well, as fluid builds up inside the lung as a result of blood returning to the veins that move blood from the lungs to the heart.

Heart disease can cause shortness of breath during exertion and physical activity or rest. Also, symptoms of heart disease, such as shortness of breath during sleep, can occur at night when the patient wakes up suddenly from sleep while gasping.

Shortness of breath can also be accompanied by a patient’s cough.

Heart palpitations

Heart patients can complain of heart palpitations, which is that the heartbeat is fast, strong, and irregular, and this is either a result of a defect in the regulation of the heartbeat or a result of the blood’s inability to pump enough blood, which makes it more rapid to make up for it.

Fatigue and tiredness

Symptoms of heart disease also include the patient feeling tired and exhausted, to the point that he remains lethargic and cannot carry out any of his usual daily activities. The patient may constantly feel sleepy despite sleeping enough hours.

Fatigue and tiredness are common symptoms of heart disease in women, especially when they have had a heart attack.

Dizziness and loss of consciousness

Heart patients can suffer from dizziness, which can develop into a loss of consciousness and fainting. Fainting is a symptom of serious heart disease that requires going to the doctor immediately to preserve the patient’s life.
